Fun With Animating Magnetic Resonance Images
April 18th, 2008“Some kids get their ears pierced… others it’s a unique haircut… Charles likes people to see his brain.”
- Supervillain Brain Child’s Mother, from The Tick Cartoon
My friend Carolyn and her husband Clint made this really cool animated video from her CT Scan, which I highly recommend. A few months back, I had a series of MRI’s done, but was disappointed to find the quality wasn’t good enough to make my own animated video from the images.
What I have been able to do is turn a few of the image series into animated gifs. The result are what you see below. Click on any image to see a larger version.

Sweet!
Are there fuller-size versions? AVI files? NEED BRAINS
You know…. Braineaters by The Misfits would have made a good backdrop to Carolyn’s brain video too. But Voltaire kicks ass.
Cool Tick quote! I also see that you already mentioned the size wasn’t as good as you liked. Did you get a CD with exploratory software (and DRM) on it?
Was this done just for fun or was there a medical procedure being done?

I am almost positive this isn’t Ryan’s brain. It is just his way of trying to prove that he is human, but we all know he is a robot. What, with that auto pilot thing and all. :o
I’ve had chronic headaches for several years now, most likely a weight-lifting injury. MRI’s revealed nothing, and I’m on muscle-relaxers and extra-strength Tylenol for those days when the pain is too much (about once every other week).
Sorry, the linked images are as large as I could make them. My hospital did not offer a CD version, so I had to scan these images… painstakingly. : )
That sucks.
Do you consume aspartame?
And, BTW, that sounds like stop-motion animation - the painful scanning.
I avoid artificial sweeteners when possible.
Ah, stop motion scanning… Yeah, it was noisy and claustrophic for half an hour. : )
