  • Undulus asperatus are mystifyingly turbulent clouds that resemble the ocean’s surface and are the first type of new cloud classified since 1951 (Photos at the link).

  • The video game Rendition: Guantanamo, where you play a person wrongly imprisoned for terrorism, has been pulled due to it’s controversial subject matter, and is among several games that were dropped for political controversy, while GTA remains popular as ever.
  • A rogue form of the tau protein, which is important to keeping nerve cells functioning, can spread through the brain in mice injected with it, triggering tangles in nerve cells like Ice-9 in Cat’s Cradle.
  • The search for the Air France flight that went missing near Brazil highlights the issue of ocean garbage, which was mistakenly identified as the downed plane early in the search (HT Mom).
  • With the influx of nutrients from agricultural run-off and dwindling fish populations, the world’s oceans are becoming dominated by jellyfish.

  • Z and Vielpunkt are a pair of gay penguins in a German Zoo that have incubated an abandoned egg and are now raising the chick.
  • Several reviews confirm that we don’t have to drink 8X8 glasses of water a day, rather drink water when your body tells you it’s thirsty or if you are on medication that suggests it.

    1. I think it’s a shame when video game makers pull games to to controversy or pressure. Let the paying public decide.

      And I give props to Rockstar for not caving on the GTA series, and actually having some cojones. I’ve bought every one since GTA III, and they will continue to get my support as long as the games are good.

    2. I heard that it’s best to drink enough water that you don’t ever get thirsty, because thirstiness is the feeling of not having enough water — and by some logical leap, it’s best to have “enough” water 100% of the time.

      I do know if I wait too long to drink water, that I wont be able to get the thirsty feeling to go away. I’ll drink so much water (I sometimes down a 20 oz bottle without ever parting it from my lips) my stomach hurts, but will still feel thirsty, so I’ll have to end up chewing gum to end the discomfort. This is usually at night.

    3. Too much water can be just as bad for you as not enough water, as it throws off the body’s electrolyte balance.
