respected sir,
to stop the pollution in space or to control itwe should control ourselves by avoiding more use of satellite, by stopping the launching of satellite in space

I find this interesting in respect to the upcoming Google Lunar X-Prize. We are now entering an era where not only governments are reaching the stars, but rich corporations are reaching out as well. With this the chances are that an increase in orbital pollution may ground us. It is not only war that we need to worry about, but all inevitable pollution that will be left behind thanks to our drive to go beyond. Don't get me wrong, I believe in things like the Lunar X-Prize, but I also think that a prize fund should be created for orbital cleanup.

We use the EISCAT radar in Norway to look at space debris. There were some interesting talks on the Chinese satellite at the EISCAT workshop in the summer. Amusingly, China has recently joined the consortium and unfortunately none of their scientists were able to attend (visa issues in China). I am sure it had absolutely nothing to do with the Chinese not admitting to its own people that it had done it...
