Hi Ryan,

I've just discovered this blog c/o your interview with Bora Zivkovic. (I was interviewed a couple of weeks ago myself - Graham Steel)

Relating to this post, I did a wee mash up of a presentation last year but ironically, it's too big to upload (I have an idea though now thanks to composing this). Check out the original here:- http://redpoll.pharmacy.ualberta.ca/lab_talks/talks.html

It's the 7th down by (Prof) David Wishart.

Good catch Sour Swinger! I did mix the concepts. The article's about data, but Moore's law is about processing data. I got swept up with trying to include as many cool concepts as possible in one post. : )

BMF: Ah, things were so much simpler back then. Watching my 1200 baud modem scroll text. Trading software for credits. Apparently the Amiga brand name is still around, it's graphics for low-end processing power (like cellphones) still rocks.

The C64 was a beautiful machine. I spent many a night in my youth, posting to BBSs, downloading and uploading Demos and such. Those were the days, eh Ryan?

I hear that the sound chip in the C64 was very advanced and is still used today for some applications. Pretty cool for a computer that is close to 30 years old.

That old gigabyte looks like something from the "future". Could have been part of the flux capacitor or something. I never had the chance to see a C64. My first was a 386.

I think it's also important to clarify that hard drive space doesn't follow Moore's law. It kinda sounded like you blended transistors & hard drive space. We'll probably see the exabyte sooner in storage before speed.

So now I'm wondering when the 1000 bytes = a kilobyte vs. the 1024 bytes = a kilobyte debate will begin?
