Time Magazine has an interesting perspective on Time Travel in the Brain, the evolutionary adaptation that allows us to replay and re-experience events at whatever speed we want.
Bottled water is seriously bad for the environment, and a thoughtless waste of money to boot. That doesn’t stop Chicago’s Bottled Water Tax from stirring up controversy.
The latest weapon for winning the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people? Anthropologists. It seems wise to me, but the American Anthropological Association has some ethical problems with it.

My [Junior Sister, but instead of explain my crazy old HS terms, lets say good friend] Katie Kriska is currently is under mentorship to a Dr. Peacock here at UNC, and so far all she has had to do was help him do research and cite arguments for Anthropologists and say why they shouldn’t help the war.
Hah! That video was posted in the Information Aesthetics blog a couple years ago. Me & Carolyn watched it. Talk about orders of magnitude..
And yea.. bottled water is stupid. Not just for environmental reasons, but for capitalist exploitation reasons. The cost is ONE THOUSAND TIMES per volume. People are getting rich off others’ insecurities.
It’s not hard to buy 3 or 4 gallon jugs of water, and then fill them with filtered water from the tap. Though — I swear they did something to change the composition of the bottles about 2 yrs ago such that if you don’t refill it within 2 days, it starts to smell moldy. They didn’t used to do that back in 2004. So I fill them with 2-3 seconds of tap water, shake it up, dump it out, do that twice, and usually then it smells like chlorine/tap-water instead of mold.
Having 2 filters is especially nice because I can fill a gallon in 1 trip…
